************************************************************ * * * SDS Labs Digital To Analog Converters * * File Description and Shareware Policy * * * ************************************************************ I have just finished my latest DAC designs for a Positive Feedback article. I thought that I would share them with you all. I'm trying an experiment. I've put the parts lists, schematics and layouts for my latest DAC designs on this anonymous FTP site (sun.soe.clarkson.edu if you got this from a friend). I'm making my designs "shareware". Here are the following terms and conditions: If you like my designs and use them to build a DAC of your own, please send me 15.00$ or whatever you feel they are worth. I would gladly accept "goods" instead of cash. If you send me some cash (or some goods of similar value, i.e. a CD, or some electrical parts) I'll help you with any questions you have. If you're poor like me, and can't afford money or goods, then send me something you've worked on. I'm not picky, and I don't expect to hear from everybody. If you check these DACs out and think I can't design a DAC to save my life. Don't send me any cash, instead, let me know what I'm doing wrong. If you modify my design tell me what you changed and why. If you give me good ideas, maybe I'll send YOU some cash. If you just look over my designs to learn about DACs, or to see what I'm doing, don't send me any cash. I'm more than happy to let people know what I'm doing, that's why I published them. Audio should be done for the love of music. If I get enough of a response I'll keep posting my improvements, and other projects. The files are currently sitting on (but you know this): sun.soe.clarkson.edu pub/dac THEY ARE POST-SCRIPT FILES, and should be sent directly to a postscript printer. If you need another format, let me know (write the format you want on the back of a 20$ bill and mail it to me :-) ). The files are broken down as follows: BDACV3.* : These files are for a Burr-Brown PCM63 based DAC. This DAC uses a 12AT7 output tube for it's analog stage. It is much more complex than the DACJR3. DACJR3.* : This DAC is base around the Crystal Semi. CS4328 chip. This chip is almost a complete DAC on a single chip. It is a very good value, and makes a good first attempt at DAC work. The files suffixes are as follows: *.prt Parts lists for the DAC (does not include cases or off board parts like switches or cords). Page numbers are for the latest Digikey catalog (1-800-DIGIKEY). *.sch DAC schematic *.lay Board Layout, Ground plane is on component side. Enjoy them and let me know what you think of them.
